Community Guidelines
Last updated November 3, 2026Version 2026-10-beta
Shiftlore works when reviews are real, useful and safe to read. Every review follows these six guidelines, and a moderator checks each one before it’s published. They are part of the Terms of Service.
Shiftlore is in private beta. This page describes how Shiftlore works today. It may be updated before Shiftlore launches publicly.
Share your own experience
Reviews must describe a job you personally worked.
- Okay
- “I closed four nights a week for eight months. Closing took about an hour after the doors locked.”
- Not okay
- “My cousin worked here and said it was awful.”
Talk about the workplace, not individual people
Do not name or identify managers, coworkers, customers, or other individuals.
That includes descriptions that point to one person, like “the only overnight manager”.
- Okay
- “The schedule often changed with less than a day’s notice.”
- Not okay
- “Jake, the weekend shift lead, plays favorites.”
Be specific without sharing confidential information
No trade secrets, customer data, private company information, or confidential material.
The review form won’t accept email addresses, phone numbers or social media handles.
- Okay
- “Training was two shadowed shifts, then you’re on your own.”
- Not okay
- Door codes, sales figures, customer names or internal documents.
Be honest
Do not knowingly submit false or misleading claims.
Opinions are welcome. Say what you saw and how it felt to you.
- Okay
- “In my experience, breaks were often cut short on busy days.”
- Not okay
- Stating a rumor as fact, or exaggerating to push a rating up or down.
Keep it respectful
No threats, harassment, hate, doxxing, or targeted personal attacks.
Honest criticism of a workplace is fine. Attacks on people are not.
- Okay
- “The pace was intense, and nobody explained what was expected.”
- Not okay
- Insults, slurs, threats, or posting anyone’s personal details.
No spam or manipulation
No duplicate reviews, promotional content, coordinated review manipulation, or paid submissions.
Shiftlore does not run any paid or rewarded review program.
- Okay
- One honest review for each job you worked.
- Not okay
- Posting the same review twice, reviewing a business you own, or asking friends to post 5-star reviews.
What happens after you submit
You can follow each of your reviews in My Reviews. It will show one of these:
- In reviewEvery new or edited review waits here until a moderator reads it.
- PublishedIt’s live on Shiftlore, shown as Anonymous Employee.
- Not publishedRejected. It didn’t meet these guidelines. You can edit it from My Reviews, for example to take out a name or a private detail, and resubmit it. It then goes back to a moderator.
- Needs reviewFlagged and hidden. It’s off Shiftlore while a moderator takes another look, for example after a report. You can’t edit it while it’s in this state, and you don’t need to do anything.
- RemovedA moderator took it down. It can’t be edited or resubmitted.
- Editing a published review takes it off Shiftlore until a moderator approves the change.
- You can delete any of your reviews at any time from My Reviews.
- Shiftlore doesn’t currently send messages about moderation decisions. Check My Reviews for the status.
See a review that breaks these guidelines?
Open the review and choose Report this review. You need to be signed in. The author isn’t told who reported it, and the moderation tool doesn’t show it either.
Disagreeing with an opinion is not a reason for removal.
